Does the door have to open left to right or can the hardware be placed for it open right to left?

Thank you for your question.    The shower door can open whichever way you want.   The shower door is reversible so it can be hinged on either side by cartwheeling it 180 degrees during installation..

What is the weight?

This is a one off product line, so this answer is a little tricky as it will vary with specific size and amount of divides used. We have found that figuring 4.78 Lbs per sq ft is a good general estimation for total weight. for example: 30" W X 76" H = 15.83 Sq Ft. or 75.68 lbs. This is the same weight used to calculate a 3/8" glass shower door. These doors are 1" thick once constructed and leave our warehouse. Are the horizontal rows of metal mullions on the outside of the shower door, the inside of the shower door, or both? How difficult is it to clean if it is on the inside? Doesn't soap scum get caught in the horizontal rows of metal?

All hinged and fixed panels are constructed as a Full Divided Light (FDL). Meaning the divides are on the exterior side of the shower with a continous sheet of glass on the inside for ease of cleaning.

Could the door be used for a steam room shower?
